Text from Yeats's The Second Coming. Inspired by both The Second Coming and the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe.
This is my first time to try watercolor with calligraphy, and it's pretty challenging in that you're dealing with new textures (the watercolor paper, the pigments on the paper) and tools (the brushes!). I had a lot of fun though -- I always enjoy color -- despite how frustrating it was to write on pigment-loaded paper using a steel nib in dire need of replacement and... old, crusty ink. I need to make a supply run soon, methinks.
I do like the countless possibilities that have opened up with this experiment in colored calligraphy, though. I'd like to try calligraphy in gouache once I get the proper materials.
congrats!
