Artist's Comments
Watercolor and ink. Calligraphy is alibata (the native alphabet of the Philippines), written from bottom to top. It says "O Pagsinta" -- "O Love" or "O Adoration." I've been working on a stanza from Balagtas's Florante at Laura for a while, so the phrase stuck.
Edit: Okay, better scan this time. Final version -- I went over the background a bit, fixed some things. Very interesting experiment -- I'll probably do this again soon*, this time with better ink (!!! need non-bleedy calligraphy ink so badly orz), better paper, better watercolors (SO EXPENSIVE OTL), and maybe adding a touch or two of pastels. I thought about doing something to this with pastels but decided I wanted to keep it light and, well, fluffy. *And by soon I mean before the Arts and Music Festival, which is already next week! By the way -- I'll be there, look for me! Booth 56!  |

As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same.
