A bit of the background in the first colored version got me thinking about a more... earthy/foresty Murasaki. An aged, stained version, with rain and rust and trees.
At first I toyed with the idea of trying to give the painting a little depth, but then... the drawing isn't really suited for that. It's made to look very flat.
I like random streaks of color more than "proper" rendering, anyway ;D
